Baylor early enrollee Tren'Davian Dickson commits to Houston

Tren’Davian Dickson will play college football in the state of Texas, but it won’t be at Baylor.

Dickson, a freshman receiver who enrolled at Baylor in January, announced Saturday that he will transfer to Houston.

A four-star class of 2016 recruit from Navasota, Texas, Dickson was granted permission to explore transfer opportunities by Baylor earlier in the month. According to ESPN, he also visited Oregon before choosing to play for Tom Herman and the Cougars. Dickson will sit out the 2016 season due to NCAA transfer rules before suiting up in 2017.

As a junior at Navasota High School, Dickson registered 39 touchdown receptions – a national single-season record. He followed that up with 24 touchdowns as a senior. Overall, Dickson caught 211 passes for 4,512 yards and 94 scores in three seasons at Navasota, per MaxPreps.com.

Dickson is one of several members of the Baylor’s 2016 class looking to land at another university in light of the sexual assault scandal that led to the removal of head coach Art Briles. In addition to Dickson, who was already enrolled at the school, a reported seven signees asked to be released from their National Letters of Intent.

One signee, four-star wide receiver Devin Duvernay, is free to sign with another program due to a compliance error with his NLI. Duvernay was the top-rated player in Baylor’s class. He will choose either TCU or Texas, according to ESPN.

Additionally, DeQuinton Osborne, a junior college defensive tackle, reportedly committed to Oklahoma State. Two other junior college signees, Jeremy Faulk and B.J. Autry, are no longer with the program.
